Clontuskert Parents Association Uniform Swap ♻️👕👖

Clontuskert Parents Association is delighted to introduce a School Uniform Swap, a simple and sustainable way to help families prepare for the new school year while reducing waste and giving pre-loved uniforms a second life.

🌱 How It Works

Step 1: Donate If you have any school uniform items that are no longer needed, we would love to receive them. The uniforms must be in good, reusable condition.

This includes:

✅ School jumpers
✅ School tracksuits (crested and non-crested)
✅ Polo shirts
✅ Trousers, skirts, shorts, etc.

Please note that this is a donation-based initiative. Donated items will not be paid for and will be made available to other families within our school community.

📦 Uniform Collection

Uniforms can be dropped to the school office on:

🗓 Monday 10th, Tuesday 12th & Wednesday 13th August
⏰ 10.00am – 2.00pm

👕 Uniform Swap Evening

Families are invited to come along and browse the donated uniforms and take any items they may find useful.

🗓 Tuesday 18th August
⏰ 6.30pm – 7.30pm
📍 School Hall

💛 Donations

A voluntary donation box will be available on the evening for anyone who wishes to contribute. Donations are entirely optional and any funds collected will go towards school fundraising.

♻️ What Happens to Leftover Uniforms?

Any remaining uniforms in good condition will be:

Kept by the school as spare uniforms for pupils who may need them during the year, or
Used in future Uniform Swap events.
We hope this will be a positive way to support families, promote sustainability, and make the most of uniforms that still have plenty of wear left in them.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Kind regards,

Clontuskert Parents Association 🍀

Read and Raise Success – Thank You!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Read and Raise Campaign at St. Augustine’s N.S., Clontuskert. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our pupils, families, staff, local businesses and wider school community, our students logged an amazing 26,549 reading minutes, with 76 students participating and 148 donations received.

This campaign was about much more than fundraising. It encouraged a love of reading, brought our school community together and showed what can be achieved when everyone works towards a common goal. We are especially grateful to our local business sponsors and to every individual who donated and shared our campaign.

The funds raised will be used to support Phase 1 of our Playground Project, an exciting initiative aimed at enhancing our outdoor learning and play environment. Phase 1 will focus on creating a more engaging, inclusive and enjoyable playground space where all children can learn, play, socialise and develop important physical and social skills.

The success of Read and Raise has given us a fantastic start towards making this vision a reality. Every minute read and every euro donated will have a lasting impact on the children of St. Augustine’s N.S. for years to come.

Thank you for helping us build a brighter future for our students. We couldn’t have done it without your support! 📚💙🏫

School Patronage Survey Results

Thank you to all families who participated in our recent Patronage Survey as part of the Department of Education’s patronage divestment process.
A total of 22 out of 56 households completed the survey, representing a 39% response rate. The survey gathered parental preferences regarding school configuration, patronage/ethos, and language of instruction.
The results showed strong support for our school’s current arrangements:

95% of respondents favoured a co-educational school.
68% preferred a denominational (religious) patron.
82% preferred English as the language of instruction.

The Board of Management has reviewed the findings and will share the report with the wider school community as part of the ongoing consultation process.
We sincerely thank all parents and guardians who took the time to contribute their views. Your feedback is an important part of shaping the future of primary education and informing the Department of Education’s wider patronage review process.

Congratulations to Our Connacht Champions

We are incredibly proud of four of our 5th and 6th Class pupils who played a key role in the Ballinasloe RFC U13 team that enjoyed a phenomenal weekend of success. The team were crowned Connacht Plate Champions and also won the Connacht Community Games; an outstanding double achievement.

Representing their club with skill, determination and teamwork, the boys contributed to two brilliant performances that showcased everything that is special about underage rugby in Ballinasloe.

These victories are a testament not only to the players themselves but also to the fantastic coaching and support within Ballinasloe RFC. We are delighted to celebrate the boys’ achievements and the pride they bring to our school community.

Two Connacht titles in one weekend is something you’ll remember for a long time.

Clontuskert student on Galway Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Team

Congratulations to our 6th class student who proudly represented Clontuskert School and Galway Cumann na mBunscol at half-time during the Galway versus Kilkenny Leinster Hurling Championship match in Pearse Stadium on Saturday.

It was a fantastic opportunity and a memorable experience to take part in such a high-profile occasion. Well done on this wonderful achievement, the entire school community is very proud.

Air Quality Results – Climate Action Committee

We are delighted to share the results of our recent Air Quality Monitoring Campaign with Globe Ireland, carried out by the Climate Action Committee in 5th & 6th Class with Mrs. Murray.

Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative. The students worked hard to collect data from different locations, and the results have now been analysed by the Globe Ireland lab.

Our Results for St Augustine’s NS Clontuskert
Location Type Tube ID       NO₂ (µg/m³)
Heavy Traffic 2748259 6.44 Max
Moderate Traffic 2748302 2.26
Remote Area 2748268 1.67 Min
(NO₂ = Nitrogen Dioxide, measured in micrograms per cubic metre)

What does this mean?

These results indicate good air quality, as all values are well below the EU annual limit for NO₂, which is 40 µg/m³. Higher levels of NO₂ (above 40 µg/m³) are considered harmful and can contribute to respiratory problems, especially for children, older people, and those with asthma.
