Ms. McInerney recently travelled to Nantes, France, as part of Clontuskert’s Erasmus+ programme to learn more about the French education system and to explore how English is taught as a foreign language abroad. During the visit, she had the opportunity to visit a local school, where she met teachers, observed lessons, and experienced different teaching styles and school routines. The trip was both enjoyable and highly informative, providing valuable new ideas and a deeper understanding of education in another European country. It also highlighted the importance of collaboration, shared experiences, and learning from schools across Europe.
One of the highlights of the trip was interacting with the students and sharing information about life and education in Ireland. Many of the children were eager to practice their English and asked questions about Irish schools, sports, traditions, and everyday life. Ms. McInerney was impressed by their enthusiasm to speak English, which reinforced the importance of language learning in helping young people connect with others across Europe. She also greatly appreciated the opportunity to improve her own French during the visit.

The visit not only offered valuable professional development opportunities, but also helped to build meaningful links and connections with educators in France, creating opportunities for future collaboration, idea-sharing, and cultural exchange.
